Harry
Harry set up English Steps in early 2013.
He has a Law degree from Sheffield University and an Oxford Trinity CertTESOL qualification in teaching English. He is now completing a masters in English Language teaching part time at Leeds Beckett University.
He has experience teaching in private and public schools in England, and has also taught English in Morocco, Spain, Belgium and Northern Ireland.
Harry is interested in sports and cinema and also works part-time as a welfare benefits advisor for local charities.
Andy
Andy is CELTA qualified and has been teaching General and Business English for the last 12 years and has trained teachers in grammar and phonetics. He has taught in China, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, Chile, Colombia, Libya, Russia, Vietnam and Sicily. Before teaching he worked in the software business and has been a driving instructor, a management consultant and a housing manager in central London.
Harry L
Harry completed his CELTA in Leeds after graduating in Politics and International Relations from the University of Manchester. He has been teaching English for the last two years and worked in Spain and South Korea before joining English Steps. He enjoys reading, travelling, and tennis and also plays the saxophone and piano.
Val
Val started her career as an ESOL teacher, having gained her Trinity CertTESOL certificate in early 2012 following a previous long career in the healthcare sector. She also has an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology and an IIHHT Diploma in Aromatherapy which, together with her extensive previous healthcare experience, enables her to teach English for Medical, Nursing and Allied Healthcare Professionals. Outside of work, Val enjoys fell-walking, music and holidays.
Amy
Amy is from Canada and still quite new to the UK. She has over five years of experience teaching business and conversational English in Costa Rica and Venezuela.
Penguin
Penguin is our as-and-when-required teaching assistant, helping Val with prepositions of place and movement lessons. He began his career at the Refugee Council, where he was greeted with great enthusiasm. Having realised that he adores being in the spotlight, he has continued his career at English Steps.
He thoroughly enjoys his work and always puts a smile on the students’ faces. He is currently negotiating his contract with Harry to become a fully paid-up member of the team. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and hanging out in the fridge.

Hannah
Hannah has over 7 years teaching experience in UK state schools. She specializes in teaching Art, but she also has experience teaching English in India.
Hannah is in charge of all social trips and cooking lessons. She has lived in Leeds for the past 10 years and has a lot of knowledge about the area.
